I like to shoot for the moon with my few last picks. Jordan Wilkins will be a guy in consideration for that upside. So far in camp, Wilkins has been very impressive, and turned it up when he puts pads on; he’s physical, showing patience and vision on inside runs, and showing good speed on outside runs. He’s winning against linebackers in pass-catching drills. He is the only back on the Colts who possesses 3-down upside, and is getting the opportunity to prove that he deserves the biggest workload in that backfield. He will probably be the favorite for goal line carries with Robert Turbin is out, and can potentially keep that role if he’s successful. It’s a crowded backfield, but on an Andrew Luck-led offense with an improved offensive line, I’ll take a shot on the guy who has ability in multiple facets of the RB position.

He has an uphill battle to climb for snaps with the default incumbent, Marlon Mack, being the current starter. However, I can see the Colts preferring to be the lightning to Wilkins’ thunder… does that makes sense? Mack is more of a home run hitter, and if he’s the guy coming in to spell Wilkins for a series or two to be a change of pace guy to provide a spark, it might be a more productive reality in that backfield. I’m much less interested in Mack if he’s the guy because he hasn’t shown that he can carry the load if called upon, and most likely wouldn’t be the goal line guy anyway – AND his ADP is a lot higher. Nyheim Hines, who can be a very productive pass-catcher, has a role that I’m not worried about when it comes to the production coming out of that backfield. Hines can line up in multiple places, and should be very relevant in PPR – this defense isn’t stopping anyone, and the Colts should continue to need to throw the ball all game long. Even if Hines is their passing down back, the early down back will be valuable in this offense.

Is it a backfield to avoid because of all the running backs and Frank Reich’s history? Sure, I’ll agree. I’m still intrigued because of Wilkins’ 14th round ADP.

Are you completely avoiding or will you take a shot on Hines/Wilkins late?
