With the Patriots drafting Damien Harris in the third round, Sony Michel’s role going into 2019 isn’t as exciting from a fantasy perspective. With Michel pretty capable in the pass game but yet to be given an opportunity at those responsibilities in his rookie year, that addition to his repertoire this upcoming season could’ve made him a great value where he was being drafted. Now that Harris has a chance of being part of the RB rotation, the backfield might be one to avoid instead of investing in.

There have been points where the backfield has been somewhat predictable, but that has always come in forms of few-game stretches during the season… never before. Harris is a grinder, can catch the football out of the backfield, can pass protect, and doesn’t fumble… sounds like a complete skillset that is valued greatly on that offense. He’s great in short yardage situations, something that the Patriots… specifically Sony Michel, struggled with last year.

If anyone, Harris might be someone I take a shot on late for the upside that he’s the Patriots goal-line back this year, with possible upside for more value. We should definitely keep an eye on camp and preseason when it comes to this situation, but the Pats aren’t afraid to use 3+ backs in their rotation.
