Believe it or not, it wasn’t Amari Cooper who led the Cowboys in production before Dak Prescott’s injury.
CeeDee Lamb out-produced Cooper 412 to 401 in receiving yards on 10 less receptions, and caught 2 TDs to Cooper’s 1.
This is counting all of Dak’s throws before he got injured, including part of Week 5.
And that was Lamb’s first five games in the NFL. He noticeably improved throughout the season, and while drops were an issue, it’s not indicative of limiting his future fantasy success.
Before Dak’s season-ending injury, this was his target distribution:
Amari Cooper 52
CeeDee Lamb 37
Ezekiel Elliott 32
Dalton Schultz 31
Michael Gallup 25
Lamb has the upside of being a WR1 in 2021 if Dak is back. He was the WR11 over the first five games, while Amari Cooper was the WR8. When you’re looking at WRs after the first few rounds who can potentially blow up in their second year, Lamb is near the top of the list because of talent, opportunity, and his situation.
If CeeDee is available to you in the 5th round in redraft with Dak back in Dallas, are you scooping him up every time?
