Evaluating Which RB To Draft Using Analytics Since 2010

I analyzed the top 50 RB fantasy seasons since 2010. Here’s what I found out:

Draft Capital Matters.

Since 2010, 9/50 (18%) of the top RB seasons were not a Day 1 or Day 2 pick (4th round or later). 82% of the top 50 were by RBs who were either a Day 1 or Day 2 pick.

Age Matters.

Since 2010, only 10 of the top 50 RBs (20%) were over the age of 26. 80% of those RBs were 26 years old or younger.

RB Windows are Small.

In dynasty, before you draft the RB that will “save you”, make sure you have a team that will compete outside of that RB. Otherwise, I’d look to trade your 1.01, even though it’s Bijan Robinson.

SOME RBS CLOSE TO (OR AT) THEIR APEX:

  • Austin Ekeler (28) - Los Angeles Chargers

  • Derrick Henry (30) - Tennessee Titans

  • Nick Chubb (28) - Cleveland Browns

  • Aaron Jones (29) - Green Bay Packers

  • Dalvin Cook (28) - Minnesota Vikings

  • Leonard Fournette (28) - Tampa Bay Buccaneers

  • Alvin Kamara (28) - New Orleans Saints

  • James Conner (28) - Arizona Cardinals

  • Ezekiel Elliott (28) - Dallas Cowboys
