James Conner was able to not only salvage his fantasy day before exiting, but also help lead teams into the fantasy championship. Playoff James Conner is very much a thing, as he handled his 19 opportunities and turned them into 166 yards and a touchdown to give him his second top-10 finish in the last three weeks. Unfortunately, Conner left the game in the third quarter and wasn’t able to return with a knee injury. The fact that he wasn’t able to re-enter the lineup was pretty telling about the severity of his injury despite us not knowing the full extent of it – with the season on the line in a must-win game (that they ultimately lost), he was held out. As a result, it’s fair to speculate that this could be an injury that lingers into next week and threatens his availability for the fantasy championship. With Conner out, RB Michael Carter stepped up and handled 10 opportunities in Conner’s absence, but the lone touchdown once Conner had left the game went to DeeJay Dallas. Carter would be the preferred pickup should Conner ultimately be ruled out, as he would be in line for the primary work in the ground while also offering some pass-catching chops.
