Sam LaPorta Exits SNF with Shoulder Injury

LaPorta was on track to post his best finish of the season last night against the Texans before picking up the shoulder injury that kept him sidelined the rest of the night. LaPorta’s been left out of our top-10 fantasy rankings at the Tight End position for a few weeks now, though an improving role over the past few weeks could have helped him to re-enter that stratosphere in the near future. Now, it’ll be important to monitor his status later this week as the Lions prepare to take on the reeling Jaguars in Week 11. Despite missing a solid part of the game, LaPorta finished second on the team in targets only to WR Amon-Ra St. Brown. Should he miss any time, more targets will be opened up for Jameson Williams (who was fresh off his two-game suspension) and Amon-Ra St. Brown, who continues to be a machine at wide receiver as one of the most reliable options in the NFL. LaPorta did try and return to the game but was ultimately unable to, which could suggest that the injury is more about pain management and may not require an extended absence. Either way, fantasy managers should be prepared with backup options at the position rolling into Week 11.
