Could his hesitance to clarify Jones’ status be stemming from the very capable play of Tyrod Taylor in his absence? That’s just speculation, but it would make sense given that the Giants have looked as good as they have all season over the past two weeks with the 34-year old veteran at the helm. Not only have the Giants been competitive with the Bills in Buffalo and defeated the Commanders in Week 7 under Taylor, but Taylor has also been able to raise Darren Waller from the dead and make him a startable fantasy TE1. Daniel Jones had largely fallen short of expectations in his first few games of the season, failing to score over eight points in four of his five games. The expectation is that he’ll make a return eventually, but it looks like the Giants are in no rush to re-insert him into the lineup. Taylor would normally be worth consideration off the waiver wire as a potential streamer this week, but a tough matchup against the Jets in Week 8 could limit any potential ceiling he might have.
